VADM Albert H Konetzni Jr, USN (Ret)

President

Admiral Konetzni is a native of Pleasantville, New York. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a highly esteemed retired naval officer who has made significant contributions to naval operations and strategy throughout his distinguished career. As a career nuclear submariner, Konetzni commanded at all levels, culminating in his role as Commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet Submarines, where he led initiatives to reduce personnel attrition and preserve critical naval assets from 25 percent to 7 percent. The Wall Street Journal published a front-page article featuring Admiral Konetzni and his attrition achievements (July 2000). His leadership extended further as Deputy Commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command and U.S. Atlantic Fleet, where he was responsible for the readiness and performance of 160 ships, nearly 1,200 aircraft, and 50 bases and facilities manned by more than 133,000 personnel. During this time, Konetzni engineered the revolutionary Fleet Response Plan, which transformed Navy planning and has been heralded as a model for adoption by all service branches. Konetzni’s expertise in strategic planning, innovation, and personnel management positioned him as a key figure in ensuring the Navy’s operational success during pivotal moments in U.S. history, including Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Konetzni holds a master’s degree in industrial personnel administration from George Washington University and has co-authored the book Command at Sea. He has received two Distinguished Service Medals, six awards of the Legion of Merit, and three awards of the Meritorious Service Medal. In addition, for his efforts regarding Homeland Security, he received the U.S. Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal.

Konetzni retired from active duty on Sept. 1, 2004. Post-naval service, Konetzni has continued to lead and contribute to the private sector, holding senior executive roles in the energy and marine services industries. His career includes serving as President of West Valley Environmental Services LLC, Senior Vice President of Federal Service Eastern Operations at Energy Solutions, and Vice President, Strategic Business Programs and General Manager at the Marine Services Division for Oceaneering International Inc.
